Answer your phone!

Wow, how many times have you yelled that into our phones lately?

In a world that has been taken over by Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, text messaging, email blasts, voicemail, blogging, etc, etc, the simple act of answering your phone has become a lost art ... it is often a very frustrating experience having to talk to a horrible outsourced service or voicemail rather than a live person.

Even though I do believe that participating in all the social media platforms is an important way to stay competitive and to get noticed (and I do participate in them), I also believe that it is more important to "talk" to my clients face-to-face and on the phone every chance I get.

It sounds silly to even say that, but it's true ... Good old-fashioned customer service and selling never goes out of style and it is very much appreciated by the person calling on the other end to actually have someone pick up the phone when they call.

Simple, right?

So, whether you are an employee, a business owner, a self-employed freelancer or even a vendor, start "answering your phone" when someone calls and stop hiding behind your voicemail, email and text messaging ... I can promise this, you will love the results!
